Tips to Get Rid of High Cholestrol

Author: remediesathome

Hyperlipidemia, or high cholesterol in common language, refers to the condition that presents in the blood serum lipid profile as cholesterol levels of more than 240 mg/dL (milligrams per deciliter). A cholesterol level of less than 200 mg/dL is considered desirable, whereas 200–240 mg/dL is considered moderately to borderline high.

It should also be noted there are two types of cholesterol. They are HDL and LDL or so called good and bad cholesterol. The HDL cholesterol, or good cholesterol, is the type that carries cholesterol out of your arteries to the liver where it is excreted from the body. It is all right for this cholesterol to be high.

First, cholesterol is a naturally occurring substance produced by the body. In fact, the body produces all the cholesterol that it needs for normal function. It is when this cholesterol is increased by what you take in through the foods that you eat that levels can become too high.

Cholesterol is a sterol (a combination steroid and alcohol) and a lipid found in the cell membranes of all body tissues. It is transported in the blood plasma of all animals. The average amount of blood cholesterol varies with age, typically rising gradually until one is about 60 years old.

What you eat. Eating too much saturated fat and cholesterol is the main reason for high levels of cholesterol because your body makes more cholesterol, and raising your blood cholesterol levels.

Cholesterol is a fatty substance present in most meaty foods and some vegetables. In normal amounts it is an important building block of bile acids, which help digestion, and steroid hormones. In the blood, cholesterol is found in particles containing both lipids (fats) and proteins; hence they are referred to as lipoproteins.

Animal origin food is high in saturated fat. A high cholesterol diet is never good for your health. Veal, cheeps, beef, milk, and butter are all animal origin food. Saturated fats are generally contained by almost all processed food. Coconut, cocoa and palm oils are included.

This is a philosophy used especially for people who do not have enough self-restraint to change their lifestyle. In spite of the possible adverse effects of the drugs, it is much easier for those people to take one pill every day.

A diet that includes too much saturated fat and cholesterol is a major cause of high cholesterol level. This kind of “bad diet” is very high in saturated fat that usually comes from animal foods such as cheese, milk, beef, pork, eggs and butter. Avoiding foods that contain saturated fat (such as packaged or processed) food could be a very good idea.

The risk increases if it "runs in the family", i.e. if your father or brother was affected by early heart disease (before age 55), or your mother or sister was affected by early heart disease (before age 65) your own risk increases.

The liver manufactures about 80% of the body's cholesterol while the other 20% comes from the food we eat. If you consume a lot of cholesterol rich food like meat and fatty food, then it will follow that your cholesterol level will also be higher.
